This is a fun web game for testing your typing speed that includes a mode to invite and compete with your friends!

I implemented the game as a foray into web development technologies, and I primarily used Node, Express, and React. I had lots of fun making and playing this game, and this very involved project introduced me to topics such as

React.js for responsive web pages - the necessity of organized state management and awareness of async processes
RESTful APIs - Exposing game server, auth, and db services to the front-end dlient; Routing requests using Express.js
HTTP Protocol - common methods, headers, and response status codes; cookies and sessions
Auth - user authentication using OAuth authorization (Discord and Google) in conjunction with my server, protected routes
DevOps - VPSs, Linux, NGINX, enabling HTTPS, the necessity of easily maintanable dev/staging/prod configurations
Databases - MongoDB document store for scores, user accounts, and sessions; Mongoose for schema
Realtime multiplayer networking - authoritative servers and peer-to-peer connections. I selected Colyseus.js as the authoritative server on my Node.js process.
Validating user input server-side - Since nothing a client sends can be fully trusted, my design has a fatal flaw bad for games. Instead of the client sending processes, such as "typed the letter 's'", to be validated, I only send the result to the server. Thus with a little knowledge, the game as it is, not difficult to conquer, albeit you must be logged in. However, you and your friends would know you can't type that fast in real life. I realized this during my brainstorming, and some other typing games validate word by word. But I did get to make a pretty interesting React component (the TypeBox), and a fun game to play with friends.
